University of Ioannina (UOI) with its decades-long history and reputation in high-quality research and development (R&D), plays a pivotal role in advancing materials science and additive manufacturing technologies. Through its Dept. of Physics (Section IV: Solid State Physics and Physics of Materials and Surfaces), Host Institution has established a robust nanotechnology research portfolio encompassing materials chemistry, nano-engineered materials, functional nanocomposites, nano-enabled devices and scalable fabrication approaches for 2D printed electronics, polymer processing and 3D printing. The collaborative labs research spans four key areas: i) Materials science and engineering, where performing pioneer work in multifunctional composite materials, including energy harvesting, energy storage, self-sensing and electrothermal properties, electromagnetic wave-matter interaction; ii) CAD/CAM/CAE systems and reverse engineering, where applying advanced design and analysis methods; iii) Additive Manufacturing, where focusing on 2D/3D printing techniques and fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites; iv) Characterization stations at materials and electronic devices level. The emerging innovations push the boundaries of traditional composite materials and enable the integration of printed electronics into FRP structural composites.
